W3SeeUkraine, a decentralized autonomous organization co-founded by a group of blockchain enthusiasts, has come up with an initiative to sell non-fungible tokens to raise money for nonprofits in Ukraine.

Professional photographers’ photographs of the Ukrainian war turned into NFTs will be sold through W3SeeUkraine. All earnings will be donated to Hospitallers and Ukrainian non-profit organization like Come Back Alive. Rather than relying on typical crowdfunding systems involving currencies such as US dollars, the project uses the Ethereum blockchain to fundraise.

All the funds will be stored in a public wallet. This makes the process more transparent and efficient. This is a one-of-a-kind concept, but this is not the first time that crypto enthusiasts have used cryptocurrency to collect funds for Ukraine.

As CNBC states, “Donations being funneled to the Ukrainian army in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin are in the millions of dollars, according to new data from blockchain analytics firm Elliptic. Research shows that $4.1 million in crypto has been raised by nongovernmental organizations and volunteer groups in Ukraine since the invasion began, including a single $3 million donation early Friday.

“On Thursday alone, one NGO received over $675,000 in bitcoin, and by Friday morning, that number had ballooned to more than $3.4 million thanks to that one-off $3 million donation.”
