A painter’s life is forever changed when a mythical and deadly spirit from Celtic lore becomes both his muse and lover.

Dallas, TX – May 8, 2018 – “Texans Return Home to Premiere Psychological Thriller ‘MUSE’,” headlines Dallas City Paper.

Art history has been rich in horror since the beginning of time. Paintings can have a powerful influence, acting as windows into the soul and mind of the artist. But unlike humans, paintings cannot die, as their timeliness exists for centuries to come. Latest from Writer-Director John Burr (Boots, The Last Kill) is the artistic slow burn, MUSE, a twisted, haunted fairytale based on an Irish legend that explores the thin line between passion and obsession. Receiving 13 award wins, MUSE showcases how inspiration can be downfall of any great artist.

MUSE will exclusively screen for one night at the Angelika Film Center & Café in Dallas, TX on Thursday, May 9 at 7:45 PM, following with a Q&A with John Burr and producer, Josh Mills.

A journey of artistic self-discovery, Adam (Riley Egan, All I Ever Wanted) is a broke and struggling painter longing to find artistic success and inspiration. Through a series of events, Adam stumbles upon a glimmering woman who quickly vanishing in the woods. Unable to shake her mysterious allure, Adam’s artistic creativity is ignited. The canvas becomes a visual window into Adam’s heart and mind, as dark shadows begin to fill the white background that is embody the woman.

Suddenly, standing before him, is his muse – a mystical and deadly spirit creature, the Leannán Sí (Elle Evans, The Love Witch), based upon the Gaelic legend of a mythical Celtic. The beautiful, yet silent Leannán Sí unleashes Adam’s artistic inspiration, as his career finally begins to skyrocket, capturing the eye of gallery owner, Valerie (Jennie Fahn, Black Christmas), and facing the town’s rival artist, Jason (Lou Ferringo Jr., Teen Wolf). Simultaneously, a torrid love affair blossoms as Adam realizes the intensity of her unwavering dedication to protect him. Willing to love and inspire Adam unconditionally, the Leannán Sí will also go lengths to destroy anything that threatens their relationship. Deadly and destructive, the Leannán Sí strikes Adam’s life and artistic career with violent madness, forcing him to choose between his morality or his muse – his artistic success and inspiration.
