April 8, 2019 – CHARLESTON, SC – Female entrepreneur Paula Dezzutti, of Local Choice Spirits, will launch a 20,000-square-foot micro-distillery in Forsyth County, Georgia as part of an up-and-coming development for automotive enthusiasts. The Stables Motor Condos and Retail Village by Destination Development Partners Inc. is a project over $40 million that will drive economic growth in the greater Atlanta area.

Dezzutti successfully argued and educated the need for regulatory changes to the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, who unanimously voted to update zoning standards, allowing for micro-distilleries in the county and making this micro-distillery development a first for the county. The design of the as of yet unnamed distillery will be inspired by its main marketing message, “Made Local,” and will bring local entrepreneurs together under one roof.

With an extensive background in business management, financial services, and development, Dezzutti found her way into the alcohol industry, which she always saw as an unlikely fit, and has been able to successfully navigate the space through her commitment to inclusivity for diverse markets that were being underserved. She was an early investor in and served on the board of multiple disruptive, cutting edge technology companies, such as Terressentia Corporation. Now she finds herself leading a multi-award winning spirits business, incubating influential diversity brands, and joining the small but growing list of rare female distillery owners.

Local Choice Spirits is an award-winning, family run spirits & wine producer, based in Charleston, S.C., and owner of the Striped Pig Distillery, which was recently awarded South Carolina’s Distillery of the Year. “Pixie” Paula Dezzutti founded Local Choice in 2011 with the vision to leave behind empowered communities that are driven by partnership and inspiration instead of fear and greed. Pixie has spent that last decade working alongside her family to create amazing brands that share the stories of local artists and influencers, and also support local entrepreneurs and community initiatives.

“The time is so ripe for a woman to add greater dimension to what’s historically been a man’s playground – it’s impossible to go unnoticed! Armed with a team of strong women, we are shaking things up and driving the industry in new directions, with more attention to innovation, inclusivity, diversity and community,” said Dezzutti.

Naturally, Pixie’s vision was set on taking her successful cooperative platform to other communities and to new heights, and she spotted an opportunity with huge potential to enrich the Atlanta community. Pixie has been driving this vision for a groundbreaking distillery concept forward over the past year, and is excited and honored to be at the forefront of this project as it gains approval.

Pixie added, “We are not selling spirits, we are selling inspiration! Providing an environment of fellowship and community as we bring more jobs, more revenue, and more visibility with an authentic connection to our products’ core values and quality allows us to make social impact through celebration and prosperity. Now that is drinking responsibly!”
