Trinity Girls Network announces Girls Empowerment Month celebration February 20th “She’s Great” event welcomes Georgia girls to the State Capitol
Atlanta, GA – Trinity Girls Network invites girls and girl groups in Georgia to celebrate Girls Empowerment Month in February by participating in “She’s Great.” The February 20th event at the Georgia State Capitol is designed to educate, enrich, and enlighten Georgia’s girls.
In 2017, then Governor Nathan Deal and the Georgia Legislature proclaimed February as Girls Empowerment Month. The “She’s Great” event highlights the importance of keeping girls in school and providing resources that enable them to live healthy lives. According to the legislative resolution proclaiming the month, “…girls who get an education marry later, have fewer children, earn higher wages, and support healthier and more prosperous families…”
The resolution also noted that “the empowerment of and investment in girls are key factors in breaking the cycle of discrimination and violence and instrumental in promoting and protecting the full and effective enjoyment of their human rights…”
Dr. Jacqueline Mohair, co-founder of Trinity Girls Network, understands firsthand the importance of empowering women and girls. Mohair was the first African American woman to be a candidate to represent Georgia in the House of Representatives District 103. She also serves as Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC) for the WOLMI/International Third World Leaders Association.
According to Mohair, “Empowering Georgia girls, as well as girls around the globe, will change the course of the future. Today’s young women need our support to become the strong, self-sufficient leaders who can powerfully lead the next generation.”
The “She’s Great” event seeks to do just that by providing information on leadership, self-esteem, entrepreneurship, STEM, girls in politics, and human trafficking awareness and safety. The event, which is free to girls aged 10 to 18, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 and includes lunch.
