Kuester Management Group Helps Homeowners Get Ready for Summer

Kuester Management Group reveals some strategies for getting a home summer-ready.

Though this past winter was an uncommonly harsh one throughout many parts of the Carolinas, spring, at long last, has sprung—and, in true Carolina fashion, summer is following hot on its tail. Before the weather becomes unbearably hot and muggy, Carolina homeowners are advised to take a few precautions to ensure their homes are summer-ready. Kuester Management Group outlines some of these precautions in a new statement to the press.

“First and foremost, while we’re still having some relatively breezy days, make sure you’re taking advantage of them,” comments Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. “Leave your windows open for a day or two to air out your home. If you have a relatively cool Saturday, think about cleaning and uncluttering your garage, getting it in shape for summer.”

For many homeowners, the HVAC system is one of the season’s biggest concerns. “It is wise to have your unit professionally inspected once a year, and now is the time to do it,” Kuester comments. Some simple preventative maintenance can ward off system failures or inefficiencies, reducing the likelihood of costly problems later in the summer.

More generally, homeowners can take certain steps to ensure energy efficiency. “Check around doors and windows and seal any cracks or fissures with some caulk, or invest in weather strips,” Kuester comments. “Improving your home’s insulation even a little bit can have a positive impact on your utility use.”

Checking the refrigerator is another good step for the springtime. “Remove the grate or cover from it and just dust the condenser coils, which will help ensure it keeps your food nice and cool all summer long,” Kuester suggests.

A final tip from Kuester is for homeowners to reverse the direction on their ceiling fans—having them rotate counterclockwise to provide the best relief from summer heat.
