Pak Academician Esteemed Globally – PU’s Dr. Khalida Khan Triumphed for NPAW-WSDPD’s Dual High Institutional Title Sustainable Water Conservation (SWC) Strategic Researcher of the Year 2018-19

Prof. Dr. Khalida M. Khan presented a postdoc thematic model on ‘Sub-soil Hydro-Toxicology’ during the NPAW proceedings of 2018, which was primed for the United Nation’s World Day of Science for Peace and Development (UN-WDSPD) 2018.

Nov 13, 2018 – The first Pakistani female Geo-environmentalist, Hydro-toxicologist and water conservation expert, Professor Dr. Khalida M. Khan has been titled as thePostdoc Strategic Researcher of the Year’ 2018-2019 in ‘Sustainable Water Conservation’. The resolution to bestow the prestigious title upon the distinct Pak academician was adopted during the annual proceedings of National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week(NPAW-2018), by the conjoint Board of Inter-regional Directors of Asia-Oceania Post-Doctoral Academia (AOPDA) and SAIRI Postdoc Multiversity for the United Nation SDGs studies, and subsequently the dual-esteem title with a medal of high institutional contour was scheduled to be conferred on November 10th to mark the annual commemoration of UNESCO’s World Science Day for Peace and Development (WSDPD-2018).

The research indicators on subsoil hydro-toxicology alarmingly point out cataclysmic hazards of the prevalent sewerage drainage practices which essentially and evidently pose an undue and disproportionate burden on the surface and sub-surface soil, which eventually leaches down to the water table, henceforth becoming a serious threat for the water reserves.

A firm and unswerving advocate of the interlinked and interdependent correlation between eco-conservancy and environmental sustainability, Prof. Khalida M. Khan has now become an icon by becoming the recipient of the prestigious international title of ‘Sustainable Water Conservation Strategistfor 2018-2019.

Professor Khalida M. Khan’s mentored postdoctoral research was directed and supervised under the cross-disciplinary Asian PI, Prof. Dr. Aurangzeb Al Hafi, who is responsible for initiating and formulating the conceptual baselines on the subject-matter of Sub-soil Hydro-Toxicology.

The environmental sustainability expert from Punjab University Lahore, Dr. Khan is a designated postdoctoral research moderator in ‘Dynamics of Environmental Sustainability, Integrated Mountains’ Geomorphology and Ortho-Watersheds’ of SAARC region at the US-based National Postdoctoral Association (NPA).

After attaining the esteemed institutional award, Dr. Khalida M. Khan has invited the present Pakistani government to come-forth to join her in the policy frame-working to cope with the impeded set-back hazardously posed by the sub-soil hydro-toxification, since the P.M., in his opening speech, has shown his concerns with reference to the water conservation and certain water-related health issues.
